Fans are invited to join in the annual celebration of Harry Caray’s extraordinary life at Harry Caray’s Tavern Navy Pier on March 19, 2020 which marks the 22nd anniversary of Harry’s passing on February 18, 1998. The 2020 toast, the Year of Big Glasses, celebrates Harry’s iconic glasses—his eyesight certainly wasn’t anywhere close to 20/20.
Question: What did Harry Caray, The Pope and Al Capone have in common?
Answer: They all got their glasses from Rosin Eye Care.
Dr. James Rosin, will be at the Toast to share stories of working with these legendary clients. Other guests include:
- Mentalist and psychic Sidney Friedman will summon his vision of the upcoming baseball season.
- Hollywood special effects artist Kevin Kirkpatrick’s will bring his supersized, eerily lifelike Harry Caray sculpture along with the unveiling of his surprise new hyper-realistic, can’t believe your eyes, sculptures.
- Navy Pier’s Centennial Wheel will be decorated with Harry face, including the illuminated center display.
- Eye glasses display featuring glasses worn by Harry Caray, Elvis, “Elton John” (Taron Egerton) in Rocketman and others.
- Multiple pairs of giant 5 foot Harry Caray glasses.
- Chicago’s own Blues musician Toronzo Cannon (late afternoon entertainment).
Chicago Cubs legend Ryan Dempster will lead the Toast at 6:30p with a rousing rendition of Harry’s favorite song, “Take Me out to the Ball Game.” Ryan will be joined by Ron Kittle and others. Dutchie Caray and Marv Levy will be joining via phone.
Harry fans gathered for the Toast will be invited to wear giant Harry glasses along with their favorite Cubs and White Sox attire to help kick off the baseball season which starts the following week. As is the case every year, fans not able to join us at Harry’s will be toasting Harry from their favorite bars from around the world.
WGN Radio’s Roe Conn Show will broadcast live from Harry Caray’s from 4p– 7p.
