Worldwide Toast to Harry Caray

Watch Live!

Fans are invited to join in the annual celebration of Harry Caray’s extraordinary life at Harry Caray’s Italian Steakhouse in River North on March 30, 2017.  The theme of this year’s toast is Let’s Win Two—a nod to the late, beloved Cubs Hall of Famer Ernie Banks, known for his saying “Let’s play two.” Hoping that identical twins=identical wins, Harry’s Bar will be filled with identical twins decked out in Cubs gear. As soon as we put out the call for identical twin Cubs fans, inquiries started pouring in. Twins from as far away as Arizona, California and Florida will be joining us for the event.

Chicago Cubs Hall of Famer Ryne Sandberg will lead the Toast at 6:30p with a rousing rendition of Harry’s favorite song, “Take Me out to the Ball Game.” Ryne will be joined by Harry Caray’s identical twin great-grandsons, Harry Caray IV and Stefan Caray, and Ernie Bank’s twin sons, Jerry and Joey Banks. Additionally, renowned Chicago magician Danny Dubin will be performing an astonishing illusion that celebrates the theme of the Toast.

We will have several items from our recently unveiled Chicago Sports Museum 2016 Cubs World Series Exhibit at our River North location for the day of the Toast. These include David Ross’ catcher’s gear and Kris Bryant’s cleats from Game 7, Addison Russell’s Game 6 grand slam ball, and Joe Maddon’s Championship Rally “We Did Not Suck” T-shirt.

Prior to the 2016 World Series win, the Cubs hadn’t won since 1908. The 1908 championship was a back to back win with 1907. We’re hoping that the Cubs will experience another set of back to back wins with a 2017 championship. At the Toast, we will be unveiling, for the first time together, the Last Out Balls from both the 1907 and 1908 World Series. Also on display will be bats from shortstop Joe Tinker, second baseman Johnny Evers and first baseman Frank Chance who were credited with leading the Cubs to the ’07 and ’08 championships.

WGN Radio’s Roe Conn Show will broadcast live from Harry’s bar from 4p– 7p. Fans who are not able to join the ceremony at Harry’s can listen live on 720AM in the Chicagoland area or tune in online to hear the Toast from anywhere in the world and raise a glass to Harry! Tweet or Instagram your toast using #ToastToHarry and @HarryCarays.
