Landmark Building for a Landmark Restaurant
“Harry Caray’s Restaurant, which opened just after the 1987 World Series, is going strong and will be around for a long time. A group of investors, including former Cubs second baseman Ryne Sandberg, NBC sportscaster Bob Costas and former Buffalo Bills coach Marv Levy, a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and Harry’s wife Dutchie, has purchased the historic building.”
Steve Neal, Chicago Sun-Times
Harry Caray’s Restaurant building is a textbook example of the Dutch Renaissance Revival Style. Its unique appearance and old-world charm prompted Paul Gapp, the late architecture critic for the Chicago Tribune, to call it one of his 20 favorite Chicago buildings, spaces, places and things.
