Sous Chef

Harry Caray's Restaurant Group has great opportunites for a talented, experienced Sous Chef! Along with creativity and a sound technical background, our chefs must have the ability to lead a team of cooks in a fast-paced setting.

We are seeking individuals with strong communication skills, the ability to work closely with FOH staff and managers, punctuality, flexibility and a positive attitude. We offer a competitive salary, full medical and dental coverage, paid vacation and sick days, paid holidays, dining benefits, as well as ongoing training and development opportunities.

Essential Duties:
-Exhibit working knowledge of food cost, best practices (line checks), and purchasing, produce, seafood, etc.
-Ensure food items are prepared according to our standards of quality, consistency and time lines
-Maintain sanitation procedures and organization of work area adhering to all OSHA regulations
-Meet all health department standards for safe food handling
-Purchase various food products as par levels dictate
-Maintain food storage, receiving, rotating & stocking as par levels dictate
-Exhibit working knowledge of scheduling

Requirements:
-Ideal candidates will possess:
-Minimum of 2-5 years of high volume, upscale restaurant experience
-Team player mentality and the ability to work in a fast paced, high energy, high volume environment
-Excellent time management skills, hands-on and ability to work independently
-Flexible availability to work day, evening and weekend hours as business needs dictate

Catering Intern

Do you love food and sales? Do you want to learn more about what it takes to produce exceptional private events? Harry Caray's Catering Internship could be a great opportunity for you.

If selected, you will get to work with a variety of our staff on real projects. Applicants must be students eligible for internship credit who consider themselves proactive, enthusiastic about learning catering strategies, able to work in a fast-paced environment and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Our ideal candidate is someone who walks into a room of people and can’t leave without making a few friends.

What You Will Learn:
• How to organize, coordinate and run large scale events such as charity fundraisers, promotional events, celebrity meet & greets.
• How to read and write a BEO.
• How to work with event sales program, Reserve.
• How to create effective collateral for events; menu cards, buffet cards, door signs.
• How to handle inquiries, leads and proposals.
• The lifecycle of an event; booking, billing stages, payment.
• How to plan a sales report.
• How to proactively sell; corporate and social markets.
• Plenty of additional opportunities in related projects.

What We Require:
• Background in Hospitality, Event Planning, Public Relations or other related discipline.
• Strong communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong organizational skills, with an ability to prioritize time-sensitive assignments.
• Interest in hospitality industry.

Marketing Intern

Harry Caray's Restaurant Group

We are seeking Winter 2017 marketing interns to assist the Marketing Department

Applicants must be students eligible for internship credit who consider themselves proactive, enthusiastic about learning restaurant marketing strategies, able to work in a fast-paced environment and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Applicants must also be passionate about marketing and advertising. Responsibilities include assisting with large and small scale marketing events, development and execution of marketing promotions, assisting with the design and implementation of promotional materials and ads, administrative tasks, and more. This is a great way to get to know the local and national media and deal with various promotions. Marketing, Public Relations, Communications or Journalism majors/degrees preferred. Adobe Creative Suite and HTML skills a plus. Lunch provided. A stipend is awarded at the end of the internship. Three month internship. Must be available Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Harry Caray’s Marketing Intern Will Learn:

Website Maintenance
- Maintain upcoming events websites
- Competitor analysis
Design
- Assist the Director of Communications and Marketing Manager in the design and implementation of e-newsletters, e-blasts and creative design
Events
- Assist in coordinating operations for corporate events.
- Responsibilities vary based on event—Celebrity Charity, Professional Sports Team Private Dining, Restaurant Grand Opening, Promotional Food Sampling events.
Public Relations
- Monitor media outlets for related stories
- Track media hits
Social Media Maintenance and Strategy
- Contribute to social media strategy based on insights and data
- Competitor analysis
- Aid in the development of extended social media strategy including Pinterest and Instagram as well as aiding in the research of new social media opportunities
Miscellaneous
- Aid in various marketing events and with projects as necessary
- Misc. administrative tasks
